Nehama Dresner, MD

Nehama Dresner, MD, has been board certified in General Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine (Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry) and has 25 years experience in Women’s Mental Health. Dr. Dresner is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Obstetrics/Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where she has been on faculty for over 20 years. She has been elected to fellowship in the American Psychiatric Association and in the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, where she has held various leadership roles.

In addition to a general practice in Adult Psychiatry and specialty in Medical Psychiatry, Dr. Dresner’s clinical focus is Perinatal Psychiatry and women’s emotional development.

Her background in hospital psychiatry makes her uniquely suited to helping patients understand the nature of their medical/obstetric condition, examine options for care, provide support and serve as a liaison between patient, family and other medical practitioners.

She is available for comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, ongoing psychotherapy and/or pharmacotherapy, and consultation to individuals and institutions, especially around collaborative or integrative care .

Emily Eveloff

Emily Eveloff, PsyD, PMH-C, is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in working with adults experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, relational concerns, stressful life transitions, as well as with LGBTQIA+ identities. As a Perinatal Mental Health Certified Clinician, she also has extensive training in treating mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period.

Dr. Eveloff believes in creating a safe and validating therapeutic environment to collaboratively explore vulnerable topics, and foster empowerment to navigate building and sustaining a meaningful life.  She emphasizes a relational approach informed by Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based techniques. She is available for individual therapy.

Carrie Feig, LCSW, PhD, has an advanced degree in social work practice and a focus on reproductive-health. She works with individuals and couples focusing on peri and post-partum adjustment, mood and anxiety disorders and relational issues utilizing interpersonal, supportive and cognitive-behavioral techniques.

Larry S. Goldman, MD

Psychiatrist

Larry Goldman, MD, has been board-certified in General Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine (Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry).  He is Professor of Psychiatry at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and has been elected a Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association and the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.  Dr. Goldman specializes in general adult psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and physician health, and he has a limited practice in forensic psychiatry.  He provides both direct pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic care as well as consultations/ second opinions for patients and their physicians.

Beth Hopson, LCSW

Beth Hopson, LCSW, has specialized in working with children and families for 20 years.  Her clinical focus is on mood and anxiety disorders, behavioral challenges at school and at home, divorce and separation, and complex family dynamics.  Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as her primary treatment modality, Beth’s goals are to enhance the child/parent relationship and help children and adolescents become happy and healthy adults. Beth believes that her role as a therapist is to encourage the use of family strengths as tools to facilitate progress.  She works collaboratively with children, parents and schools to establish and monitor goals and enhance the skills necessary to improve family function.

Denada Hoxha, Ph.D.

Denada Hoxha, PhD, specializes primarily in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in her work with patients who have a diagnosis of unipolar depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder. She has specialty training in women’s mental health particularly during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Dr. Hoxha also works with emerging adults with mood and anxiety disorders with a special focus on social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder. She is adjunct faculty at Loyola University of Chicago in the Counseling Psychology Department.

Poonam Jha, MD

Poonam Jha, MD, is a board-certified child, adolescent, and general adult psychiatrist.  Dr. Jha has spent much of her career at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where she developed expertise in treating children and adolescents with various emotional challenges including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and adjustment disorders.  Her passion includes helping youth exposed to trauma, having previously worked closely with a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians devoted to the care of such individuals.

Dr. Jha’s expertise and experience enable her to understand and communicate the changing developmental needs of her patients and their families, throughout the life cycle, which is central to the care that she provides. She takes a holistic approach to patient care which includes collaborating with other treatment providers and schools, working with families, utilizing medications, and implementing talk therapy to support her patients in their growth and well-being.

Allison Kurzman, MD

Allison Kurzman, MD is a board certified psychiatrist with specialized training in perinatal psychiatry and has been elected a Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association   After completing a fellowship in Women’s Mental Health, she was a clinical instructor of psychiatry at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine for many years, teaching medical students and mentoring psychiatry residents.  Dr. Kurzman’s expertise is in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, as well as psychiatric disorders associated with the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, the post-partum period, lactation and perimenopause.  She is available for diagnostic evaluation, consultation, ongoing psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy.

Ryan Meeder, MD

Ryan Meeder, MD is a child psychiatrist who completed general adult psychiatry training at the University of Illinois and child psychiatry fellowship training at the University of Michigan, where he also served as Chief Psychiatry Resident. Dr. Meeder is board certified in General Adult Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Meeder has a diverse training background, including experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, family therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. Dr. Meeder’s training and clinical practice have given him a strong foundation in evidence-based treatment for multiple psychiatric disorders including ADHD (attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder), Autism Spectrum Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and Depression across the lifespan. Dr. Meeder strives to create an open and collaborative treatment environment with an individualized approach to help patients meet their goals. Beth Pettinelli, LCSW, I-ECMH-C

Beth Pettinelli has 25 years of experience working with children and families throughout development from birth through adulthood. She has a passion for creating therapeutic spaces where support, growth, and hope can be nurtured. Ms. Pettinelli takes a relational and empowerment approach to her work viewing each individual and family as unique. She builds on the strengths of their specific experiences and works collaboratively with them towards their goals. She has worked extensively with children, adolescents and emerging adults, as well with adoptive and foster families in a variety of settings, specializing in treating issues of attachment, trauma, parenting challenges, relationship issues, divorce, grief and loss.

Ms. Pettinelli takes a holistic approach collaborating with other professionals and systems in support of goals related to education and wellness.  Throughout her career, she has maintained a special interest in infant and early childhood mental health (0-8) collaborating with parents to navigate their role as a parent from challenges with sleep, feeding, and behavior to coping with parental or child illness, parental anxiety, and depression, gender, child loss, child abuse, and domestic violence. In addition, she is a National Trainer in the family therapy model for young children, Child Parent Psychotherapy and has been a faculty member, trainer and consultant for the Illinois Child Parent Psychotherapy Learning Collaborative through the Erikson Institute since 2008. Lauren K. Robinson, MD, MPH

Psychiatrist

Dr. Robinson is board-certified in both general and forensic psychiatry. She is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Forensic Psychiatry at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine where, in addition to teaching psychiatry residents and fellows, she serves on the Medical Ethics Committee.

Dr. Robinson specializes in treating adults with mood and anxiety disorders, including depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, perinatal and post-partum conditions, addiction, and personality/relationship issues. She works with both young adults and the geriatric population. She is accepting patients for diagnostic evaluations, consultations, and treatment. In addition to medication management, Dr. Robinson is available for psychodynamic therapy and studies at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute. Dr. Robinson approach to treatment is collaborative, considering patients’ values and making shared, informed decisions together. The therapeutic relationship is the bedrock of her practice. Melanie Venable, MD

Melanie Venable, MD, is board certified in general adult and forensic psychiatry, with nearly 15 years of clinical practice across multiple care settings. She has provided supervision to fellows through Northwestern’s McGaw Center for Medical Education, and currently sits on the question writing committee for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Her exposure to a wide range of patient populations and disorders has led Dr. Venable to appreciate the diversity of human experience, and to work with patients to develop an individualized treatment plan based on their unique perspectives and goals.

Dr. Venable’s forensic background inspires a systems-based approach, which may include collaboration with health care providers or family members. She seeks a therapeutic partnership, in which patients are empowered to develop self-efficacy for their overall well-being. Dr. Venable is available for diagnostic evaluation, consultation, and treatment.

Michelle Wasserman, Ph.D.

Michelle Wasserman, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with particular expertise in health psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and uses integrative approaches to treatment to adapt to patients’ needs. She specializes in several areas of women’s health including mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders/body image issues, coping with cancer and issues related to cancer genetics, stage of life transitions, and relational issues. Comfortable treating both men and women, she has particular expertise in helping women manage perinatal issues, especially anxiety and depression related to conception, pregnancy, and the post-partum period, and in developing healthy and positive choices around parenting and work-life balance. She also enjoys working collaboratively with patients in making lifestyle and behavioral changes, in areas such as smoking cessation and weight management and is particularly interested in helping patients learn mindfulness-based strategies, especially as a tool to help manage anxiety and depression. In addition, she works with patients and families in navigating the process of genetic testing for hereditary cancer and has served on the advisory board for the Sarnoff Center for Jewish Genetics for the past 10 years.
